- Well, if I can sell a futures contract for any as yet to be conceived
- children I may have, I'll rush right and buy a system like yours to see just how
- lightening fast NT can be! :-) Now, if I can just convince my wife to go through
- the agonies of childbirth so I can run NT!! Maybe M$ and Intel can use this
- angle to help hype P6's with NT!
-
- You're only helping to make my point. NT is not even close to being either
- practical or desirable to 95%+ of computer users and this isn't going to change
- soon. The biggest problem with NT going mainstream is that M$ keeps strapping
- on crap that isn't relevant to the vast majority of people. By the time
- hardware catches up, M$'s first stab at an OO will come out in all it's buggy,
- bloated glory, and NT will still be too slow for 95+% of users. This a fairly
- safe prediction because the first release of something this complicated will not
- be a pretty sight. The real fun thing to watch in the next couple of years will
- be seeing M$ squirm when IBM pulls the plug on M$'s license of IBM's patent
- for OLE. If you look real close at some of the changes in Merlin, you'll see
- that IBM appears to be removing the last vestiges of M$'s code in OS/2. It
- means that in the future M$ will be duelling with IBM with an unloaded pistol!!
- :-)
